What contract manufacturing means here

Contract manufacturing is straightforward: you own the design, and we own building it. You send a drawing, a specification, or a part you need copied. We price it, schedule it, and produce it to spec.

Two kinds of work come through here in roughly equal measure. One is parts. You have drawings and a quantity, you put the job out for quote, and you need a shop that will hit the print, hold the schedule, and give you the same part on the tenth run as on the first. The other is systems. You have equipment, a plant condition, and no drawing for what connects them, and you need someone to engineer it, fabricate it, install it, and tie it in.

Four ways to start a job

You send a print

This is the most efficient way to get your firm quote. When you know exactly what you want and have the application(s) to provide the necessary detail, we can provide a quote quickly and avoid delays with back-and-forth questions. DXF and DWG file submittals are a great way to expedite the quoting and production processes. This works best for parts that you already have and/or will be reordering.

We come out and draw it

If you have an idea of what you need but are not sure how to make it happen, we can help by providing in-the-field services. We will visit your facility, take measurements, discuss options, and provide CAD drawings for your projects. This is a great way to design retrofits, as well as provide tie-ins to existing equipment or completing systems. Our versatility allows us to work with the equipment manufacturer of your choice.

You send a sample

If you have a part but don't have the ability or confidence to provide a drawing or dimensions, we can replicate your sample piece. We take your sample; evaluate materials, measure to spec, and provide a CAD drawing for the part. This is a great option for those obsolete parts, components from an out-of-business supplier, or a part that has never been documented/drawn from the beginning.

Time and material

This is a good approach to the smaller but equally as important as any other job that may include repairs, rework, or maybe a job that is 'unknown' until it is opened up to see what it entails. Time and materials are simply calculated thru actual costs rather than a fixed price.

How our RFQ and quoting works

Most of our work is competitively bid. You send an RFQ, we price it against the same drawings every other shop received, and we win it or we do not. Here is how to make that go quickly.

What to send with your RFQ:

What you get back: A firm quote when the scope is defined. If you are still building a budget, ask and we will give you a budget number to work from, then firm it up when the drawings are final. If the scope genuinely cannot be pinned down, we will say so and quote it time and material rather than padding a fixed price against unknowns you would end up paying for.

If the drawings are not finished yet: Send what you have. We have quoted plenty of jobs from a description, a photo, and a site visit. If the work ties into equipment already running in your plant, we would rather come out and take the dimensions than guess at them, because a guess turns into a change order and a site visit does not.

Plan and spec work: Send the full package and we will bid it. We will also coordinate with whichever equipment manufacturer you have selected, so the fabrication and the equipment arrive matched instead of arriving as two separate problems on your floor.

Parts and Production Runs

A lot of the best work here is the same part, over and over, right every time. You send the print and the quantity, we quote it, and once a job is running we keep the setup so the next order goes out faster than the first.

We build to your print and we do not redesign it. You keep the drawing, the tolerances, and the intellectual property. Our job is to hit the specification, hold the schedule, and make part number one hundred identical to part number one.

Quantities run from a single prototype to full production. What we are built for is the reorder.

Engineered systems and trim systems

The other half of what we do is systems. When a plant adds equipment, upgrades a line, or puts a project out to bid, the job is often not a part at all. It is a system that has to be designed around equipment already running, fabricated to fit, installed on a live plant floor, and tied into the roof and the existing ductwork. One contract, one schedule, and one company accountable for all of it.

Trim and scrap extraction is a specialty here. When a plant adds a baler or a conveyor, something has to move the trim from the production equipment to the new system, and that connecting work is rarely on anyone’s drawing. We design and build the whole path: cyclones and cyclone stands, blower fans sized to the actual airflow and static pressure, electrically operated switch valves so a plant can run old and new systems in parallel, baler chutes, filtered discharge plenums, and all the interconnecting ductwork. Roof penetrations, curbs, and patching the old cutouts are part of the job, not a separate trade you have to hire.

Equipment and materials

What is on the floor determines what we can take on:

We work in carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, and galvanized, along with specialty alloys including AR abrasion-resistant plate, HSLA, and heat and corrosion resistant alloys for high wear and high temperature service.

We also cut materials most metal shops send away. Our waterjet runs industrial plastics including UHMW, HDPE, PVC, polycarbonate, acrylic, nylon, and Delrin, plus gasket stock in neoprene and silicone. That covers machine guards, wear plates, chute and slide liners, chain guides, shims, and insulators. If a job needs a liner or a gasket cut to match a flange we are already fabricating, it does not go to a second vendor.

Fabrication and installation, one scope

We fabricate in the shop and install in the field. For a plant manager that means one contract, one schedule, and one company accountable when the system has to run. Nothing gets handed to a second contractor at the loading dock, and nobody gets to point at the other trade when a dimension does not line up.

What drives cost

We do not publish prices, because nothing here is a catalog part. What we can tell you is what moves a number up or down:

Quoted price or time and material.

A firm quote requires a defined scope. If the scope cannot be pinned down, time and material is usually cheaper for you than a fixed price padded against the unknowns.

Quantity

Setup is a fixed cost spread across the run. The second hundred parts always cost less each than the first ten.

Material

Stainless, aluminum, and galvanized carry different prices and different labor. Material market movement affects quotes more than most buyers expect.

Tolerance

Tight tolerances on features that need them are worth paying for. Tight tolerances applied to every dimension on the drawing are not, and they raise your price for nothing.

Finish and documentation

Coating, passivation, mill certifications, and inspection reporting all carry real cost. Tell us up front which you need.

Installation

Whether we are shipping parts to your dock or installing a system in your plant, including roof work, changes the job entirely.

Certifications and documentation

We supply material and mill certifications on request, and we weld to the standards our customers specify. Where a contract requires a specific certification or qualification, we obtain it for the project.

Can you quote from our spec package and drawings?
Yes, that is most of what we do. Send the RFQ with the prints, quantities, tolerances, and any documentation requirements, and we will price it against the same package everyone else received. We build to your print and we do not redesign it.
Yes. Plenty of our work is the same part released against a customer’s schedule. Once a job has run once, the second order moves faster because the setup is already proven.
